AP Wire | 12/13/2004 | New England Nears 1st Execution Since 1960
Serial killer Michael Ross is scheduled to be the first person executed in Connecticut for four of the rapes and murders he has committed and was sentenced to die for. Ross has given up any further appeals and so he has a execution date of January 26, 2005. He is one of seven on death row in Connecticut. In the New England states only New Hampshire has the death penalty on the books. None of the six states, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire or Connecticut has executed anyone since it was reinstituted in 1976.
Various efforts are being made, without the help or consent of Michael Ross to prolong his life and at this time it's unknown the effectiveness of these efforts.
